Bartlett, Texas: Founded in 1881, and built from the railroad and
cotton industries, Bartlett still stands as the jewel of the rich
Blacklands area today. Proudly retaining one of the largest groups in
Central Texas of conjoined historical buildings and original brick
street. Bartlett's combination tempts the imagination and recollection
of another place in time.
With the decline of the cotton industry in the 1920's
and 30's also came the decline of Bartlett's commerce, asleep maybe, but
still standing and rich with history.
By the 1990's, Bartlett was once again becoming a
place of interest for many business owners and historians alike. The
past decade has seen a vast amount of reconstruction in this unique
setting, preserving the history while updating for the future. Every
year brings new shops and businesses to Bartlett, contributing to what
is rapidly becoming the premiere destination in Central Texas. Though
still set in the cotton and grain belt, commerce is coming back by way
of fine antiques, collectables, dining, and other specialty shops.
Located less than an hour northeast of downtown
Austin, Bartlett is closer than you think! Plan a day to shop and visit,
who knows, you may stay a lifetime.
